Save a Child's Heart

            Save a Child's Heart began in 1995 when an Ethiopian doctor asked Dr. Ami Cohen to help him with the heart surgery of two children. Soon, there was an entire organization of surgeons that helped with the surgery of children. Save a Child's Hearts' main goal is to help children with heart problems in countries that do not provide the care they require.


            I am very happy for the children who are getting surgery in developing countries. If I were a child who had a heart disease and had no one the provide what I needed, then I would be depressed. However, this new organization is helping those children continue with there lives and dreams. These children are very fortunate because of this.

Terezin

         Terezin  is the name of an old military fortress. This fortress was used as a prison for war prisoners during World War I. During World War II, the nazi's  used Terezin as a concentration camp. This place wasn't a torture camp, but many Jews died at Terezin. Between 1941 and 1945, 140,000 Jews were sent to Terezin. 33,000 of them died there. 88,000 were sent to extermination camps. By the time that Terezin was no longer in use, 19,000 Jews were either freed, or sent to neutral countries of the war.

                    After seeing these pictures and reading articles, I feel somewhat depressed. I can't imagine what it would have been like to be one of the Jews to be sent there. I probably will never visit this place, seeing how many people died here.

Brazilian Senate and House of Representatives

              The Senate's main role is to create and vote on laws. The Senate also approves or disapproves foreign trade. The representatives of other states in the Senate is not determined by population or economic power of the state. All states have three representatives. The Federal District also has three representatives.The Senate's function is to make laws. Without laws, the country would be in chaos.

The House of Representatives is somewhat similar to the Senate. Unlike the Senate, the amount of representatives varies by population of each state. The House of Representatives is also known as the lower house of legislatures. The role of The House of Representatives is to represent their state. If each state does not have an opinion, then the citizens of that state will be very unhappy and there will be little democracy since that state does not have an opinion.
